For once I’d like
To sustain the pleasure
Of a continuous course
Which cannot be subverted
Averted
Averse
The furthest cry from perverse, corrupt
When I near the prospect
I find
That I erupt.
When tension seizes the air
And visions past suspend
Everywhere
An overlay persists
My resolve desists
At the dentists’
Or anywhere really.
She left me in that tiny box
Mental constructs- the strongest locks
I sought comfort from a shadow
Who fled. ‘Code white’ and then
desaparado
Gone.
The government of shadows, long,
Became my family, of hurtful strangers:
Rangers
Derangers
Mental rearrangers.
I never agreed to their realities
But certain pliances will bring anyone
To their knees.
Over the knee, abandoning ‘free’
Or otherwise strung up from a tree.
“The choice is yours, you see!”
So I acquiesced, albeit reticently.
I resist the idea that life is compliance.
To powers such as these
I have no alliance.
I am not an appliance.
I have no reliance
Upon forces that perceive free thought as defiance.

Wow! Great poem. Thanks, Volat!
All women are beautiful. Period.
I deserve better than survival.
