The crack

That tiny crack
Tween him and me
It fed my fears
It fostered angst

It wasn’t her
It wasn’t me
The fealty was
To children he

Loved in ways that
Kept them tied and
Let them float
Upon the tides and

Never would
The tide go out
But waxing moons
Would pull it in

So back and forth
And in and out
The ties that bind
Kept growing doubt
