Horrors too great to speak
Break them into parts
Hiding truth from tiny selves
Stuck in place
Hurting and afraid
Alone feeling shame
Shouldering the blame
They stay silent
The individual becomes many
One of them tells
Invaded by the enemy
Lurking among the parts
Makes them want to die
Must protect the lie
Innocent yet worldly
Compassionate yet hard
Beautiful and scarred
Terrified yet brave
Protecting yet unable to save
Vulnerable yet strong
Crying silent tears
Going on for years
Life force so strong
Experiences so wrong
Need help to go on.

A scar is the tattoo of a triumph to be proud of. It says the hurt is over and the wound is closed. It means you conquered the pain, learned a lesson, grew stronger, and moved forward. There is a beauty in my scars that I can see now.
