Title of a poem I wrote about narcissistic abuse: They want to silence me


They want to silence my laughs.

They want to silence my cries.

They want to silence my pain.

They want to silence my love.

They want to silence my feelings.

They want to steal my laughs.

They want to steal my cries.

They want to steal my pain.

They want to steal my love.

They want to steal my feelings.

But they can’t feel happiness.

They can’t feel joy.

They can’t feel tears not for
themselves.

Nor pain not their own.

No love for themselves or others.

No feelings but bitter emptiness and anger.

So they force their pain upon you. To squeeze the bits of happiness oozing out of you. Everything that is left living in you that’s good they take and take. Until the you that you know is gone. Like the last bit of juice in a juice box, with their hand wrapped tight around the juice box, they crush you, sucking it dry to get to the last drop of you.

I won’t fucking let them silence me. Not anymore. They can’t keep doing this. My voice will be heard! My laughs will be laughed!! My smiles will be here to stay!! My songs and hums will be enjoyed!! I will be heard!!!!!!!!!!

Your words EXACTLY describe my life with my birth mother. Even the nasty things she called hugs felt like they were sucking the life out of me. She TOOK when she hugged. Most people GIVE when they hug. She used to say whenever she was planning to visit me that she was going to “STEAL HUGS” when she arrived. She was NOT exaggerating! It felt like she was stealing pieces of my soul.
