Hi, I'm 52 and a survivor of childhood sexual abuse/incest. You can call me Angel, as I have always loved everything about angels. My monster was an older half-brother. I won't go into details of my family dynamics other than to say I had an alcoholic father, a mother who kept her head in the sand to avoid everything,& a biological brother older by 2 yrs who was also a victim. My father & both brothers have died. I have a relationship with my mother, but not close. My abuse started about age 5 and lasted until about 10 or 11. My half-brother was a monster, so that is what I refer to him as, not a brother. I was able to confront him and start my healing process a few years before he died (opioid overdose). I have major depressive disorder with acute anxiety, ptsd, as well as several non-abuse related health conditions. I struggle every day just to want to stay alive, but at my age I have become physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually exhausted. I just have nothing left to give, but I am hanging on day by day. Thanx for a safe place to express myself.
Angel

Welcome, Angel!
It may not feel like it at the moment, but it is never too late to begin to feel better in at least some aspects of life. Like any journey, taking the first step is often the hardest -and you have done that already by taking action to post here.
