New psychiatrist anxiety

I am meeting a new psychiatrist today and have woken up so full of anxiety. I don't actually require v.much from psychiatry (meds oversight, mostly) but I always see the Consultant because it was so stressful to me to keep being seen by rotating junior doctors (even though they were great, it was never the same person twice). So I am hugely anxious today and I think it is because this is a new person, and I just fear not being heard.

Maybe write down some things you want to say before you go in? That way you can be sure not to forget in the moment.

Jonesy made some great recommendations. I find if I am stressed about an appointment I have to write things down or else my mind cannot focus on what I need and I always forget something.

And breathing is always a great idea!

Thanks for the support everyone - it went really well! I felt like he respected my opinions and didn't talk down to me and we came to a good agreement about my medication that I'm happy with. He's SO MUCH better than the last psychiatrist so now I'm over the initial nervousness I'm actually happy about the change.
