How to Lose Control and Gain Emotional Freedom

I'm reading two new books this week: "Fail, Fail Again, Fail Better " by Pema Chodron (Sounds True, Boulder CO 80306) and "How to Lose Control and Gain Emotional Freedom: Embracing the "Dark Emotions" through Integrative Mindful Exposure" by Jerry Duvinsky (CreateSpace, South Charleston, SC 2012).

Both books are healing and helpful to me. I've finished Pema Chodron's and am working my way through "How to Lose Control and Gain Emotional Freedom." What I'm finding the most useful is that these books help me accept myself as I am right here and right now, whatever I'm feeling, whatever I've done or not done.

One caution with "How to Lose Control" is that for me, my own "kindfulness" is an absolute necessity! However I'm working with my emotions, I need to stick with a solid intention of Being Kind to myself.

I've finished this book and plan to re-read it again. It offers me effective tools to continue my healing. Many of the tools are ones I already use, but it was validating to find them offered again.

My interest is in emotional awareness in the context of my own health so I ordered the Duvinsky book. No idea if you are still using the forums but the author Alice Miller (1923-2010) wrote about emotional blindness and mental illness in the context of the childhood experiences of famous artists, authors, politicians and criminals. Not sure if I can post links to her website but you can find information there about her work.
