Hearing my own voice.

Post by Closeyclo » Sat Apr 13, 2019 9:52 am

I remember watching the second Legally Blonde.
Hearing Sid talk about how "an honest voice is louder than a crowd's".
And I've always been honest, but could never find my voice.
The crowd of other voices in my head were so much louder.
The only chance I had of breaking through
was to use the voices of others.
Almost a decade passed, with only silence on my part.
But I heard her again.
The crowd was shouting, I'm eternally broken.
Never to be fixed. Worthless. Give up.
Then she spoke up. Small, almost childlike.
For the briefest of moments, her honesty broke through the crowd.
She's reasonable. Logical. Calm.
See how it goes with them. They could help.
You are not broken forever.
A matter of seconds before she was drowned out once again.
And I have not heard her since.
But now I know she's there. Not lost to me.
She just needs a little coaxing. Some safety.
I'll teach her to project.
Keep her integrity intact and mute the masses.
I have more hope now than for almost a decade.
I spoke with my own voice and that is monumental.
Beware the aggressive vocalizations, bringers of such pain and anxiety.
Because if an honest voice is louder, when she finds hers she's going to deafen you.
Your words will fall silent before they pass your lips.
And you will finally taste their poison.
A champion is defined not by their wins but by how they can recover when they fall.
