Fear

So, it has been a while since I have been back on isurivive. But, I had a memory the other night, one that has affected me more than any other since I graduated from therapy almost four years ago. I remembered waking in the middle of the night and looking across the room at the light peering under the door. I remember being afraid. I didn’t remember being afraid at all during those times until now. This is the first time I remember fear, which feels like a huge piece of the puzzle that has always been missing. This makes me feel more human and helps me to see that I didn't completely cut myself off as a little girl. So I wrote a poem about my memory...

light wakes me
from across the room
peering under the door
shadows stop
please don’t stay

heart beating faster, faster
swallow hard
covers to chin
close eyes
PRAY!

squeeking door
footsteps
creeking floor
pretend sleep
GO AWAY!

not again
tears form
hold back
pretend again
imagine another day
