We’re out of gas
On the road to nowhere
Sputtering in fits and starts
Lurching forward, jerking to a halt
Summoning courage we start again
Hope springing eternally
We thumb some that gets us through
To the next exit for now
We search for fuel endlessly
Forever dipping below empty
Sometimes we get a full tank!
Then we ride top down, speeding
We feel the breeze and sunshine
We marvel at the clouds
And air, so much of it, burning
We ride off into the sunset
And dark dawns heavy and final
Snuffing out the sparks
We settle in for the long haul
Idling on empty oblivion
Empty

Hi Oceantide,
Reading this is like describing the inner workings of my mind so often... a picture of depressive cycles... and more...
