I am weak

Post by Daisy » Fri Sep 18, 2020 11:56 pm

My whole life people have said that I'm strong.
But what is strong to them?
Is strong enduring pain?
Is strong living when you want to die?
Is strong faking a smile?
Is strong pretending everything is okay?
Is strong allowing yourself to be abused?
Is strong denying that it is abuse?
Is strong being there for others?
Is strong putting others before yourself?
Is strong convincing yourself that your feelings aren't as important?
Is strong ensuring everyone else's happiness?
Is strong changing yourself for others?
Is strong keeping quiet?
Is strong being used?
If these constitute what strong is then I've always been strong but I'm not strong anymore.
I'm now weak.
I will refuse anymore pain.
I will go on living because I want to.
I will frown more.
I will admit that everything isn't okay.
I will stand up to the abuse.
I will admit when it is abuse.
I will be there for myself.
I will put myself first.
I will make my feelings important.
I will ensure my happiness.
I will be me, once I figure "me" out.
I will be loud and heard.
I will refuse to be used.
I promise myself that I will be weak from now on.

wow, that’s a powerful poem.
there’s great strength in weakness
“for when we are weak, we are strong.“
(I think my gran said that to me)

very powerful thanks for sharing

""There’s great strength in weakness
“for when we are weak, we are strong.“
(I think my gran said that to me)""

This hit something in me. Thank you both for your kind words.

Thanks Daisy. she was very special.
My gran was born on a reservation and was 4’8” and tiny but mighty. I was always timid and skittish (for good reason) and she would always push me in my back-telling me-firmly-with her dark, shining smily eyes, “Stand tall! stand proud!” and then tickle me and i would run, I didn’t get much time with her. Dad didn’t let her around much.
