My t likes to use the analogy of driving through a rough neighborhood. Processing the memories with EMDR can be like that. If we just decide all the sudden to jump out of the car we will just leave ourselves in a bad neighborhood. So it's important to finish the session right and to drive thru the emotions so we can get to a safer place to stop.
I get you on just trying to stay afloat. I feel like I have to spend so much energy on just dealing with my past. It's very exhausting. There are days I don't know how k make it.
