An Ode to the Lonely

Post by Anystasia »

I don't know if it's ok to post things on here in more than one conversation, but I thought someone out there maybe might appreciate this. Maybe not. I don't know...I don't know much. I'm very tired. But here it is.

An Ode to the Lonely

This is an ode to the lonely...
You are not really alone.
There are plenty of wandering travelers,
lonely wherever they roam.
But lets bring this closer to home.
In particular, I'm lonely too.
I do not mean to concern you,
nor do I know of a cure.
But if you're looking for company,
I can be lonely with you.
We can be alone together,
differently similar strangers,
and tonight we can howl at the moon.
If nothing else, at least we'll each know,
that someone out there's howling too.
Like in that old children's movie,
staring at the same moon.
But howling alone is just silly and sad,
so promise that you'll do it too?
Somebody, anyone out there who cares,
tonight will you howl at the moon?
This is an ode to the lonely.
Know that you're never alone.
Everyone sometimes are lonely.
And we can be lonely with you.

Hi Anystasia, Ryu

Thank you for sharing this. It really resonated with me
And tonight? I will howl with you; because even when surrounded by people, the loneliness still creeps around sometimes
You are important

Thank you for posting this touching poem, Ryu and Any.
Tears come to my eyes.
Tonight, and perhaps more nights to come, I will look up to howl at the moon, thinking of others howling to join in lonely solidarity.
If moon isn't visible, I will howl at the night sky.
All women are beautiful. Period.
I deserve better than survival.
