Litter
I’m a lost cause
a piece of discarded shrapnel
strewn across a dump
shattered into
undistinguishable
and gnarled pieces.
As the wind gives
its tiny bursts and whisperings,
I lift seamlessly into the air,
Hover for a moment…
just long enough to find
another place to lay my head.
The horizon shimmers
as the sun shows his face
to a new day.
The air, crisp in its freshness,
wraps its long arms
around my scattered pieces,
subtly beckoning
them back together.
Im a lost cause,
there is chaos around.
The ground under
gnaws incessantly
at my sides.
My nakedness
cold, still, lifeless.
Inanimate objects,
We lie around,
trying to camouflage
into the colourful
heaps around us.
We are all the same
yet so very different.
Each with his own story
Each his own past.
