Cannot

You cannot run away and hide.
You cannot hope for things that died.
You cannot say you've failed, your through.
You cannot sit and moan and stew.

You cannot try for better days.
You cannot speak an honest phrase.
You cannot sit alone in dark.
You cannot have a bite nor bark.

You cannot get just what you want.
You cannot find a thing to flaunt.
You cannot break, or you will bend.
You cannot live, or you will end.

You cannot run away at all.
You cannot start, or you will stall.
You cannot open up your eyes.
You cannot shed your crude disguise.

You cannot sing your song out loud.
You cannot dream, it's not allowed.
You cannot think what you're not told.
You cannot live until you're old.

You cannot work or play alone.
You cannot be just like a stone.
You cannot show what you're about.
You cannot even think aloud.

You cannot be, unless you ask.
You cannot be more than a task.
You cannot say you need, oh dear.
You cannot damn yourself with fear.

You cannot make a simple error.
You cannot let your face show terror.
You cannot live, in truth, or die,
Unless you masquerade your lie.
