Exposed

My ribs are open and exposed
Deep incision cuts free
Things that cannot be zipped up
Secrets for all to see

Grasping, pull skin flaps tight closed
Protect my breathing lungs
Internal treasures naked
My heart unsealed to tongues

In hands they clench my heart enclosed
Some cherish some deride
Stabbing, bleeding, crying out
The soul I cannot hide

Verity of secrets opposed
Each face drips disbelief
I fear their judging silence
Embarrassment leads grief

And those compassionate disposed
What will they think of me?
Of all the pain I've suffered?
Will they just view debris?
