I am gathered up again

I woke up this morning.
You were standing there, grinning,
Waiting for me to notice.
You led me away from the glittering
Gem-filled dreams
And showed me the stars.
You wiped away my tears
And I knew it was okay.
I don’t have to be afraid.
You took me to the library,
Opened my eyes.
Showed me what I’d already seen
But never understood.
Each book standing there,
Placed by my own hand,
Each one a clue
Leading me to you.
I’m a book of fairy tales,
Each page a different story.
I am a city.
Each person walks in glory.
I am a tree
With branches broken, scattered.
And by your gentle touch
I am gathered up again.

bug, this poem has such a sense of wholeness to it. It's really lovely, and I really connect with it. It kind of makes me think of all the memories I have remembered, both good and bad, the emotions that go with that, the fragments I pick up, the puzzle that I'm putting back together. Not sure if that's what you intended, but however you mean it, it's gorgeous. (((((((bug))))))))

BecomingButterfly, you are exactly right. It is amazing to find how much of myself got lost in the shuffle when I was busy trying to protect myself. And now I have some safe space and am getting to rediscover all sorts of little things, piece them together, see a new picture of myself. And the big picture is something altogether different and more amazing than how I've looked at myself before. It's an amazing journey, isn't it?
