Hey Fleur! Thanks for the "attagirl" on planning. Much appreciated!Fleur wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 9:46 pm Hello Honeybera
Great planning on all fronts
Who is going to drive you home after the cataract procedure? When you get the date from Dr, perhaps ask for referral to patient transport?
There are a few less toxic ideas (compared with Round Up) on the internet to kill off the morning glory and bamboo and other unwanted plants, if interested
Hear you about having a place for items you want to keep - glad your clothes have a "proper" home
Ms T is fortunate to have loving care from you and son. Are there days when she is brighter, able to be continent?
May you have a safe drive to Dr office and return home. And may N arrive at a civilised hour to visit
Much caring
Dear son will be driving home from my surgery. As I said to there, Feb. 15th. They got me in fast - YAY! My good eye is 20/20 with correction, but the eye with the cataract is 20/400!! Legally blind, even with correction! So yes, I can hardly wait until I can get in there and get this over with!!
With this particular bamboo, I believe the best method is to just dig it up every time it rears its ugly head. I've already gotten rid of it in the raised beds (thank God!!). As much as I use YouTube, I have seen those less toxic methods, and I may use them on the whippy weeds as they slither up and over my neighbor's fence and into my own yard, BUT I must be careful not to harm my lovely little trees in the process. Spraying RoundUp a while back nearly killed my avocado trees due to just lightly spraying 4'-5' away from their area on a dead calm morning. The benefit of using RoundUp is that it systemically kills the bamboo or whatever, whereas the vinegar/dish soap/etc. spray only kills that which it's sprayed on and does nothing to kill the actual plant, just the leaves it's sprayed on. But enough RoundUp spraying can sicken or even kill ME! So no Monsanto spray in my backyard, and only the "organic" stuff if simple weed watching isn't enough.
On Feb. 7th I'll have a call from a retired Master Gardener/Farm Advisor who will help me with some burning questions that I have re: my Backyard Orchard Culture (Google that on the internet), pruning, and my organic gardening for this area. I am THRILLED! I'll let you know how that goes.
Everything (all clothing) is put away (and was within a half hour of the new furniture arriving!) It's perfect!! I love it! Very happy with it. Just got the two HUGE shelves (48"Wx82"Hx18"D each!) for the computer room. Son needs to set them up for me, but he's been working every night at his ("Part Time") job, and he sleeps all day, so it's tough to find the time to set those up just yet. We'll get to it. I'm thrilled with the progress we're making; these shelves are a place for things to KEEP. This may be enough room. We'll see.
T is a blessing. Her loss will be difficult, but we're doing our best to make her last days good ones. The routine is thus: first thing when I wake up, I go get T out of the hallway and give her pets and love as I walk her to my slider to start her day. We have two doggie pee pads (big ones) laid out for her in the hallway, along with 3 soft throw rugs for her to lay on. They are also washable in case she has an "accident". Some nights, nothing. Other nights, well...she leaves something. But we try to put her out before we go to bed. Blessedly, the weather is improving and is warmer out there at night, and with plenty of healthy sunshine for all of them during the 70ºF days we've been having. On the back step outside my door, I put out fresh canned food, table scraps, and water for her and the other dogs (and this is improving their health, too), and she plods along the path they've made from dog's yard to garden through the open gate, as do the others, but they are prancing or running and guarding, while T is just plodding along aimlessly. She used to be the feistiest one of them all, nailing birds in mid-flight if they dared to trespass, barking wildly at any unfamiliar sound, but she doesn't even bark now, not in the last few months, and simply plods by the birds, staring straight ahead. The true blessing is that she is unaware of what's happening to her. I watch them through my Window on the World, and she is blissfully oblivious, a kindness by nature. After dark, we bring her into the hall, block the hobby room and front room entrances (lessens the clean up if there is a mess) and she collapses on her rugs into a solid sleep next to ds's door. We let her out one last time to potty outside, and then that's it until morning. The routine begins again...thank you for asking. {{{{{Fleur}}}}}}
I think I've finally made it clear to N that he has to call first or at least text and get an answer from me, acknowledging that I KNOW that he's coming and approve. Bless him, but I have removed the "DOORMAT" sign from my forehead, and he needs to respect that. I am no one's doormat anymore!! A friend, ALWAYS, but NEVER a doormat!
Got chores to do! This place is shaping up, I mean it!!
