LOL
I have conversations with my dogs using my eyes. They look at me. I look at them. My older dog gives me the shifty eyes. Pretending to be looking at me but looking to the right or the left.
My young dog turns her head sideways and blinks rapidly. I will close my eyes and wait a few seconds. Then open them and the two dogs are still staring at me.
It's so fun.
My guinea pig will get obnoxious when I start up a conversation with him. He'll do his purring sound and then start squealing as if I had just ripped out half of his hair. I squeal back. He stops squealing. I gently touch his soft little round ears. He starts to purr again. Then we do it all over for another five minutes. Guinea pigs are a crack up.

What is Tula's and Soxy's favorite words?
Jackson and Sandy love "get in the car". They go crazy wild.

Great query wolfspirit - I am unsure there are any "favourite words" for Soxy. He would really like to explore outside, but it is too dangerous with big dogs, highway and territorial well established cats in the neighbourhood. His favourite place to scratch is under chin and along jawbone. He likes me being in one spot to accompany me. One thing he is very slowly learning is that it is all right to play when I'm around, especially if I can see him

I didn't know Guinea Pigs purr. I've heard them squeal and squeak

Your dogs eyes tell you much it seems. I haven't had a dog for years, but "get your lead" and "in the car" were special phrases. One dog liked human food so much that even when she seemed asleep, she'd suddenly yip and trot over to have her ration of whatever we ate, unless it was salad - she enjoyed cooked vegetables, thank you very much

Thanks for the happy memory prompt

Soxy sounds like such a love. Makes me miss my kitties. I've had four of them over the years. After the last one passed, I told myself I would take a break for awhile. Too much sadness! Then I go out and get two rescued doggies. As if saying goodbye to them will be any easier. They are a joy now, though. So much energy.

So funny that your pup only liked cooked veggies! They have their own personalities, don't they. :)

When a guinea pig purrs, it is communicating contentment and pleasure. It is quite a funny sound, actually.
I just learned a few years ago that Cheetahs and Bobcats purr, too. Not sure why it took me that long to learn, but I still find it fascinating.

Thanks for sharing about Soxy.
Hope the coming week is enjoyable.

wolfspirit,
I cry over knowing Tula will pass. Just about in tears now.

Sorry, rough patch today.

Do they pass? physical presence - yep. I've just lost - but he has not passed, huge in my heart, I continue to love. Can't see/touch/pet - but our special relationship - I'll hold on to. He came bounding into my heart - he's going nowhere, my head won't cut off (finally) so I will hold on tight to my life with my little friend.

I'm sorry to have brought sadness in to the Joy List. :(
I can try to make it right by offering a suggestion to read my favorite books when a loved pet passes:
Cat Heaven
Dog Heaven
by Cynthia Rylant

They have helped me so much and when I think of a lost pet, I reread them over and over again.

Here's to enjoying our pets while they are here! One of mine is sleeping next to me as I type this.

sending love,

ws

ws, no worries. Please don't feel guilty. Without sadness for contrast, what would Joy be? :D thank you for the book recommendations!

I loved climbing trees as a little kid. Maybe it's not a terrible idea as an adult. I don't care if they thinkI'm crazy.Fun isn't crazy.
