Introduction - Poncho
I am 52 years old and hadn't dealt with my childhood issue for many years. Many times to this day, I try to convince myself that I made the whole thing up. As far as this issue goes, I have been having a lot of feelings that seem to be more prevalent than actual memories. I don't know if the idea that something might have happened keeps me feeling out of control or if it's the fact that I could be making it all up. I have difficulty talking about the subject when in my therapy appointments as well. Thank you for letting me have the opportunity to throw this crazy stuff out there

Hi Poncho,
Welcome to a friendly part of the Web.
Certainly is fine to share whatever you feel comfortable to write. Hopefully, might help you to speak up in therapy.
Warm regards,

Poncho,
Welcome. I'm guessing that many of us struggle with issues similar to yours. It took acceptance, and then gradually learning how to trust our own feelings.

Re: Introduction - Poncho
Thank you. Sometimes the stunted child in me seems to crave validation. At this point, I consider that a weakness and I have a hard time accepting the fact that I'm not bulletproof. My head tells me that I'm supposed to "entertain" folks and it so wears me out. Especially when I'm just not feeling it. The people in my recovery(I'm an alcoholic) seem to have grown to expect that I'm always gonna entertain them and appear like I have no down times. Unfortunately, I do. Even my roommates rarely get to know when I'm in those spots. The good thing is my therapist is allowed to. Again. Thank you all for giving me the opportunity to throw this stuff out on the table. I am grateful.
