Hi guys,

I hope that you're all doing well. I have decided to go by Reed.

I have joined as someone who has someone that's really close to them who was recently sexually abused/molested about a month and a half ago. It is a girl that I have been interested in for several years.

I have been really careful about joining because I don't want to communicate that I don't think about my friend's pain. I do a whole lot. My pain... still exists though. I feel bad for saying that, but feel that—much like her—if I am not willing to admit my own pain then I can't really deal with it.

I have come to ask for advice on how I can deal with it for myself and also how I can be a good friend.

I know there are many here who have gone through much tougher situations than my friend and definitely me. I really hope I haven't offended any of you as that's the last thing I wanna do.

I'm praying for this community and look forward to talking.

Just picking up on your comment about different people's hurt/pain....

Everyone who is on this site has a past where they were hurt. Pain is pain is pain.

My paper cut might hurt me as much as someone else's broken leg regarding our emotional response to the injury .... I'm simply saying comparisons are out.

Whilst it's wonderful that you want to assist your friend, please also be here for yourself.
