Good morning- I'm new here

This is my first time in any kind of forum. I don't think I would have ever sought one out had my therapist not suggested I go to group. I'm hugely uncomfortable around a lot of people so I figured this would be an excellent compromise.

I have been sexually, emotionally, physically and verbally abused over the course of my lifetime. Of course, I always tried to downplay those truths in my own mind comparing my experiences to those of other people. When I was sexually assaulted at age 18 I decided not to go to the rape group because I felt like I'd be insulting those who had "actually" been raped.

I guess that's where I'll stop for now. Thank you for providing this resource.

I understand the feeling of being invisible. I tried to be for so many years so that maybe I would be left alone and the abuse would stop. That didn't work. But I still feel small and like a wallflower.
