Forum Looks

Post by isurvive » Sun Feb 05, 2017 12:21 am

Hi All,

I would sincerely like to offer my full apologies for the current look of the forums.

I had been upgrading to the latest best version of the software running the forums (phpBB). Whilst doing this I found that the look you have all come to love, does not work.

I attempted to restore the site to how it worked prior to this, but the database copy I had taken did not restore correctly.

I have spent about 7 hours trying to get it working with this new version without success.

I had two choices

1) Leave the forum offline until tomorrow when I could find a new theme
2) Give you the forum back, but with the default software look.

I hope you think I made the correct choice.

If this affects anybody in anyway, I hold my hands out in apologies and hope you can forgive me

Hi Members,

I have spent most of the night and all of the morning working on giving you your site back to a look similar to what you had.

I have managed to get the main forum page back to a green colour.

I have also pulled out most of the red-colours from the forum.

There is now a bonus feature - if you visit us on a mobile or tablet, the forum is now what is known as "responsive" this should give you a much nicer experience on a smaller screen.

I will be continuing the work for the rest of the day, but will need to stop to go to bed early as I have to go to work tomorrow.

I will do my upmost to get this back today.

If you find anything that looks wrong, incorrect or difficult to read - please let me know and I will add it to the list.

Hi All,

How does it look?

I still need to do the header to put the main site menu back in place. That's going to take awhile as I do not want to break the new responsiveness.

Regards,

Vince

Thank you, it should be a lot nicer on smaller screens. The design will now hide certain elements if your screen is small, and make sure the main elements (posts etc) are easier to read.

You should still be able to pinch an zoom to make the text larger.

Yes, exactly what you said. :)
(I'm not the best at describing things)
The pinch and zoom does work btw.
Thanks again

Wow! This is great Vince.
It's going to take a little getting used to, but that's nothing to this bunch here ;)

Thank you - very much

Thanks Vince,

I think it looks great. Feels a bit more soothing, apart from the extra pop of the remaining red colors(good for Trigger warning). I wonder if the notification bubble could be a color other than the red... It is the first thing I see at the top of the window, and feels similar to the red ST.
Please forgive the formal critique, I think it looks lovely. Thank you for all of your work,

DewDrop
